School of the Art Institute

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) has been a leader in arts education for 150 years. In keeping with SAIC’s  mission and core values, the John M. Flaxman Library and other School departments house numerous special collections devoted to Chicago-based art, artists, and arts organizations.

Featured collections from the Flaxman Library include the Joan Flasch Artists' Book Collection, with over 8,000 examples of artists' publications from the last 50 years, and the Randolph Street Gallery Archives, documenting a vital and innovative force in Chicago's art community from 1979–98.The Roger Brown Study Collection and house museum is located in a historic 1888 storefront building featuring the home, works and collections of the important 20th century artist and collector, Roger Brown.
