Warmly Welcoming Three New Members

During the frigid month of February, CCC warmly welcomed three new members— Alliance Française de Chicago, Chicago State University (CSU), and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Each of these three institutions adds new flavor to CCC that we can’t wait for you to taste.

Did you know the Alliance Française de Chicago has archival resources dating back to 1908 related to their connections to the cultural history of Chicago? Examples include artifacts from various dinners, events, and projects showing a history of influential individuals who have been connected with the Alliance and Chicago over the years. And what a treat to learn about Pagny-sur-moselle, a village in France, which the Alliance Française de Chicago was part of reconstructing during WWI... the town is still writing about them to this day. Find out more about the Alliance here.

CSU, joining CCC at the Governing Membership Level, holds incredible collections related to individual, organizational, institutional, and business records from South Side Chicago entities that document the African American experience. Their Archives and Special Collections also include extensive records on the history of the institution dating back to its founding in 1867. Just some of their notable collections include the Thomas N. Todd Papers, the R. Eugene and Alzata Pincham Papers, the Provident Hospital and Training School Papers, and the Maxwell Street Collection. Learn more about CSU’s holdings here.

At the School of the Art Institute, you can find archival and special collections representing strong elements of Chicago cultural history including The Randolph Street Gallery archives, which contain artifacts, posters, videos, photographs, publications, ephemera, business papers, and more, from the Chicago Artists' Collective, which played a significant role in shaping the global history of contemporary art, curation, and arts management. Go here to learn more about SAIC collections.

All of this, and much more, will be revealed through CCC's website soon, and in our online portal that will release this fall. Check back soon to learn more about these great institutions and their collections.

In the meantime, welcome aboard, Alliance Française, CSU, and SAIC! We are thrilled to have you.
