Chicago Collections Consortium and DePaul University Library were proud to be recipients of a $1,500 Vincentian Endowment Award in 2022.   Thanks to this award, CCC and DePaul University Library were able to welcome  members of the My Block My Hood My City Explorers Program on October 6. My Block My Hood My City Explorers Programs brings high school students on experiences across the city fostering an awareness of opportunities beyond their neighborhoods.

Derek Potts, Archives Assistant for DePaul University led students on a walking tour of the neighborhood sites associated with the Young Lords, an activist group that was organized in 1968 in Lincoln Park.  The Young Lords fought to empower Puerto Ricans in their fight against city development plans targeting their communities. The tour took students to locations where the Young Lords operated and held demonstrations.

CCC was proud to host these students and lead them on a neighborhood tour of historical references of the Young Lords' engagement and provide an opportunity for discussion with DePaul Librarians, staff, and members of the New Era Young Lords.
