Chicago history just a click away; team developing web portal on city
BY KARA SPAK Chicago Sun-Times Staff Reporter August 3, 2011
A one-stop shop for the area’s richest sources of Chicago history is coming online.
Mary Case, the university librarian at the University of Illinois at Chicago, is leading a team from 14 local museums and universities to develop a single searchable Web portal for their diverse Chicago collections.
“We’re pulling together in a very public, visible way all of the independent collections we have that focus on Chicago and Chicago history,” she said. “Anyone from anywhere could go in from the Web and find out what our libraries have.”
